Surnames that appear in this article are: Banks, Tayburn, Payne, Stewart, Walden, Artiss, Bryd, Jackson, Jinkins, Woodley, Hicks, Waid, Roberts, Archer, Wilkins, Heathercock, Hartwell, Johnson, Dempsey, Newlin, Laburn, Scott, Allen & Mendenhall.
These names are spelled as they appear in the extracts, but some variations would/could be.....Tayburn=Taborn,Byrd=Bird, Nimsom=Newsome, Dempsey=Demsy, Heathercock=Heathcock, Hicks=Hix, Waid=Wade & Artiss=Artis.
These persons were being manumitted from the following areas....Northampton Co., NC, Farquier Co., VA, Brunswick Co., VA, Surry Co., VA, Greenville Co., NC, Orange Co., NC, Cumberland Co., NC, Halifax Co., NC, Rowan Co., NC & Guilford Co., NC.
