I wish to respectfully insert a comment. I could be wrong, but I believe that "Cheval" was a title, not a name, and that Cheval Francois was the SAME PERSON as Louis Augustin Meuillon. A Chevalier was like a captain or a post, or something, and from my looking at files on the Internet, it seems that many were proud of their father's title and added it into -- or took it in place of -- their surname. Does this sound plausible to you? If not, please correct me. Thanks.
