You're very welcome Hollis. Equally revealing are the heart wrenching petitions I read from free women of color who petitioned the general assemblies for permission to "enslave themselves." Finding it too difficult to support themselves and their children alone, they "desired slavery over freedom" as a means to survive.

Each of these petitions were either rejected or deferred.
