Daniel Hurley & Eliza Moore: Clark/Montgomery, OH-

Hi there! I'm looking for any information on Hurleys of Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH and Springfield, Clark Co., OH.
Hello!

My great-great-great grandfather was Daniel Hurley. (not sure where he originated, perhaps Virginia).

He married Eliza Moore (born 1815 in Virginia) in Springfield, Clark County, OH in 1836.

They had two children: Harriet (b. 1840) and John McClain Hurley (1855-1896).

Eliza, Harriet, and John are listed on several census records in Ohio as free people of color. However, Daniel never appears with them in the records.

On the 1840 US Census, I have found one Daniel Hurley in Dayton, OH, listed as a free person of color.

I'm not sure if he was a person of color as some in my family say he might have been Irish.

There are many Hurleys in the Clark, Greene, Montgomery, and Knox Co., OH areas, but they are all listed as white.

Eliza Moore's family lived in Springfield. I believe her mother was Hannah Moore (b. 1790 in Virgina) and her brothers were:

John Moore b. 1813 VA

Samuel Moore b. 1821 VA

Jeremiah Moore b. 1822 VA

Peter Moore b. 1824 VA

Henderson Moore b. 1825 VA

Strawther Moore b. 1830 VA

Anderson/Andrew Moore b. 1833 VA

Any information that anyone might be able to provide me on Daniel Hurley or Eliza Moore would be most appreciated.

Thanks!
