My GGGG Grandfather, the slaveowner

My GGG Grandfather is Daniel Ferrell. Daniel, a Man of Color, and Jane, the Black Woman, are included in the 1823 Last Will and Testament of Thomas Hughes (1749-1823), Jefferson Twp, Greene Co, PA. Daniel was to be managed and Jane was to be maintained. Mr. Hughes identified Daniel...a man of color. And Jane too, the Black Woman. Daniel is buried in the same cemetery as Thomas Hughes and his wife Elizabeth. Daniel Ferrell appears, by name, in Cemetery Records. Jane is said to be buried in the same cemetery but she does not appear in such records. The other day, while at Cornerstone Genealogical Society here in Waynesburg, a White woman, kin of Thomas Hughes, said to her daughter, "this is Bill, your cousin". To hear this with my own ears was great! I was 99.8% sure of Thomas Hughes being Daniel's father and now I am 99.9% sure. The other .1%...just in case. From the research of others to hearing with my own ears, the search for more continues. And there is a lot more to the Ferrell/Hughes relationship.
