My research actually lead me to a large community of Canadian Godetts in Nova Scotia and Quebec. Do you know if your cousin-in-law or any of the other NC Godetts were able to find a link between NC Godetts and Canadian Godetts? I'm feeling like my Godetts may have been descendants of Canadian Godetts who immigrated to the States in the 1700's. It would explain their mixed ethnicity and their having an uncommon surname.
