Hello and thank you both for responding. Yes, I have found the Chavers spelling in my family. The changing of my name line is very interesting. Starting with my grandmother it was Shaffer, then Shaver, Shavers, Chavers, and Chavous. I think the William & Henry in Mecklenburg Co. are my Ellison's brothers but I haven't been able to confirm this. Thank you for the leads. I'm on my way to the library to check out the Charlotte Co. references. My Ellison moved from Mecklenburg Co. VA into Franklin Co. VA. After his death, his family moved on into Johnson Co. KY.
