No, I have not found the origin of the Godett family. Maybe from the West Indies? There were no Indian groups in Craven County, and the Godetts married only light-skinned African American families like Perkins, Moore, George, Powers, Lewis, and Driggers.

Tribal Indians were restricted to reservations and needed special permission from the court to pass through a county.
