Thank you for your note. No, I am not named for that Martha Bruce. I heard of her through my aunt Catherine Bruce Williams who lived in Washington, Pennsylvania, but I never got to meet her. Actually I was named for my mother's mother. We have lots of Martha's in our family. My father Andrew Bruce had a sister named Martha. Everyone called her "Mattie". She, in turn, named two of her daughter's Martha, Martha Belle and Martha Priscilla. I always wanted to meet the Martha Bruce who lived in Little Washington.
