I know people's appearance can change as they get older, but on top of the way my gg grandmother looked, she was also considered "Indian" by family members and as far as I know she considered herself "Indian" as well. Perhaps she had a substantial amount of Native American ancestry but also some European and African ancestry making her "mulatto." By the way, getting a little off topic, I noticed that on your site the George family is traced back to 1600's Northampton VA. but the Godett family info on your site starts out in North Carolina in the 1700's, do you know anything else about this family preceding the 1700's? I'm wondering where they came from? Godett s not a very common surname in the States. I myself have had no success finding anything else about the family before the 1700's.
