Thank you for your valuable contribution to this forum of free people
of color! The website you provided so extremely interesting for those
like myself who have deep roots in a so-called "tri-racial isolate" group. My maternal grandmother's people are Piscataway-Conoy Indians or known in the late 1800's and early 20th century as We-sorts located in Charles County (Southern Maryland). Other groups such as mine should follow the example of what the Mulungeon people have done by shedding light on a very important piece of American culture and history via cyberspace. It's time to celebrate our mixed Native-American heritage and stop hiding in a shroud of secrecy in fear of larger white/black American society doubting our research, wisdom (gained through the oral history of our ancestors), and ultimately our heritage! Let's really raise the bar on Black History Month as well as Native American heritage month (in November) by demanding that our beautiful but hidden ancestry be known! We, as descendants of free people of color and Mulatto slaves need to do this
by writing editorials to magazines dedicated to both the black experience and Native-American culture. SPREAD THE WORD!!!
