Re: Goin/Gowens etc and Order Books

On May 2, 1886 in Albemarle Tobie Goins 20 so b @1866 "son of Henderson & Elizabeth" married Sallie H. White 18 "dau Nimrod and Harriet". (So I assuming this Henderson is the same Henderson named in the order book reference). Also in Albemarle Chancery drawer "new style" drawer 2 (currently still at the courthouse) is Cora Goings vs. George Gilmer trustee. Tobie B. Goings died May 4, 1936 in Albemarle with no will. He owned 98 1/2 acres and there is a trust deed on it. The widow says she is 65 years old. His children are the following: Elizabeth pritchett, Nannie Botts wife of George D. Botts, Fred A. Goings, Nimrod Goings, Winston T. Goings whose wife is Maude E., and a dec'd daughter Bettie who married Dr. H. P. Cobbs. The infant children of Dr. Cobbs are the following: Katie Cobbs "about" 15, Henry Cobbs 13, Going Cobbs 12, Wilson Cobbs 8, Winston Cobbs 7 and Jesse Cobbs 7 as of May 15, 1937. (I haven't checked if Tobie 1st married Sallie White and then Cora ----). Winston T. Goings was a builder and WWI verteran here in charlottesville. Both he and his wife Maude Truehart died arount 1974 in Charlottesville. Maude was a daughter of William Truehart and Ada Johnson of Albemarle. Ada was a daughter of Mary Johnson and either William Barbour or Reuben Barbour. Mary Johnson lived at Monticello, Jefferson's house from 1860 to about 1880. She was a former slave of Joel N. Wheeler the farm manager of Monticello for Uriah Levy. When the Union forces raided Monticello in March 1865 Mary Johnson and William Barbour were present. She later married Reuben Barbour (possibly) a brother of William Barbour.
