I never have seen a case where this Bond was enforced, but that doesn‘t mean much. As I stated, it appears that this Bond requirement was selectively enforced. It appears that free African Americans settling in Ohio choose Ohio Counties and or parts of Ohio Counties where the Bond requirement was not enforced. $500.00 back then was a huge sum.

By the way, that Bond Law was repealed in 1849. The 1850 and 1860 Ohio Census shows a sharp increase in the African American population of Ohio.
