() Hello Henry & Others, A great site for statistical information from the US Census Records may be found at "The Historical Census Browser". Your discussion on the numbers of "enumerated" FPOC's in Ohio & other States, along with in what Counties they were located, for what census years may be accomplished using the query features at this site. The enforcement of the $500.00 bond is certainly questionable an open for discussion. An example......The group known as the Randolph Slaves of Virginia, 380+ in number, were freed in 1846 and migrated to the Miami Valley of Ohio (Miami & Shelby counties). There is no record of bond being posted for those individuals. And that would be a tidy enough sum of money to certainly have been recorded somewhere. (380+ x $500.00) I have a copy of a 3rd great-grandfather's manumission papers from Shelby Co., KY (1813) and his registration paper as an FPOC in Champaign Co., Ohio (1816), but no record of a bond being posted in Ohio. I also wonder about the time difference between freedom & registration, but that is another story. Good seeing you on the AfriGeneas site Art Thomas
