Hi Denise,

In the service his surname was Augustus and on family documents the last name was also Augustus, but on other census records it was sometimes Adolphus, or Agustus.

I'm pretty sure it should be Augustus (who ever gave his his name really did a number on him), but that is why I thought there might be some connection to Ceasar Augustus because both names are unusual.
