Thank you for your prompt responses. I was aware of the Lumbee possibility. Also researched Bladen, Robeson and Marlborough
NC where Major Locklear was known to have been.

Paul, William and others on 1818 Illinois Territorial Census -- also 1820 Illinois Census. I have looked at the Wm you
mention and it does not appear he was enumerated twice. Thank you for checking, however. Some in the family were later
listed as mulatto, and a daughter-in-law of William's was disowned by her father when she married his son, John Wesley Burns. It may have been because of
color.

Appreciate the help and direction.
