I have some Carters who intermarried with my family from Surry and Charles City Co. I also have some who are from Pittsylvania and Amelia Counties and who married into the Hairston family. There was also a Carter who married Hezekiah Blizzard in NC. The problem is that I don't know if there were free because the oldest that I can document was born in the late 1860s.
