Re: Patawomeck - Grigsby, Redman, Mann, ect.
In Response To: Re: Redman/Warrick of Loudoun Co., VA ()
Bill, It's been some years since we last spoke about "Indian John Redman" of Loudoun Valley. At the time I had not yet expanded my research into the related Grigsby and Mann families ( Indian Sue/Susanna Month alias Mann of Spotsylvania). Our elder male, near 90, is the son of Susan Mann. The Grigsbys are his double cousins (at least). A descendant of Henry Meese has recently made me aware of a number of writings that you have produced on the Patawomeck Tribe. The Virginia Indian Heritage Association would like to acquire those of your materials which reflect upon the Redman, Grigsby, and Mann families. The Martin and Anderson families, also of Fauquier may also be of interest. Another family of interest is one of the Lucas families of Stafford re Charles Lucas, a "bright mulatto" who "had an Indian parent" re the Lucas of Frederick and Fauquier, who intermarried with many if not most of the above families. Please advise re your most appropriate publications relative to the above families. P.S. I finally met Chief Green during the making of the Jamestown Settlement introduction film in preparation for the 400 year commemoration. James Nickens
