In Response To: Re: Dinwiddie County VA FN Register 1850-1864 ()
Hi Selma, I am most interested in the Masons and the Goodwyns. Robert Mason b 1833 was supposed to have been a FPOC and purchased the freedom of his wife, Susan Goodwyn Stith b 1833. Prior to her marriage to Robert, she had 3 children, Elizabeth born about 1853 and James Goodwyn born about 1855 and Richard J Stith born about 1858. I haven't found them on the 1860 census and am wondering if this family oral history is true. Rev. Frank L Mason was supposedly born in 1860 and was born free. This was the oldest child born to the union of Susan and Robert Mason. I have checked Sussex Co and found nothing. I have done some research in Southampton Co too. Since I know the Goodwyns were in Dinwiddie Co, I wonder if they might have lived there prior to Sussex Co. Elizabeth married Joseph E Moyler. James married Alice Knox whose family also had ties to the Goodwyns and the Hunts. Richard married Susie Massenburg-Grizzard. All marriages were filed in Sussex Co. I have also wondered if Susan had a connection to the Feilds and the Baugh families. I also know there were Moylers (Moiler) in Petersburg. Thanks again. Linda
