The Dinwiddie County Virginia Free Negro Register July 1, 1850 to Feb 1864 has been transcribed by Dorthy Boyd-Bragg, Ph.D. and appears in the November 2007 (vol. 45, No 4)of the Magazine of Virginia Genealogy (the 113 pages of this register are also on microfilm at the LVA). There are 281 entries. Dinwiddie County Court records prior to 1833 were destroyed in a fire in 1865.
Dinwiddie was formed from Prince George County in 1752. Dinwiddie borders, Nottoway, Amelia, Brunswick, Chesterfield and a corner of Greensville Counties in Virginia.
