Ned Griffin was freed in 1780 since he fought in the Revol. War for his master Wm. Kitchen. All of his heirs were also set free. At the time he had no heirs. Ned is traditionally a nickname for Edward and you can find him in the 1790 and 1800 census living alone. He can be found in 1810 in Pasquotank with 3 free coloreds (mulattos) in his home). By 1820 the free-colored Griffins spread out to Camden and the Rutherford North Carolina. I am looking for the original offsprings of Ned. I'll see if I have Elijah in my database.
