The Henrico County Record books 1678-1693 were abstracted in the Magazine of Virginia Genealogy in the early 1990's there were numerous entries of Indians as slaves:

12 Oct. 1688
Tom, an Indian boy belonging to Tho East being by his sd Master brought before this Worll Court, & affirmed to be a slave is adjudged to be fifteen years of age.

Feb. 1689
James an Indian slave belonging unto Mr. Jn Piggot being by his sd Master brought before this Worll Court is adjudged ten years old.
