() Paul, Thanks for your response and excellent examples of the inter-mixing of Slaves & Indians. I guess I didn't fully explain the condition I was asking about. In my case the slave owner owned a mother who had seven (7) children, one of the slave woman's children was believed to have had five (5) children fathered by a Pamunkey man. The woman and her children remained with the slave owning family. That is what I was asking about being unusual. A slave owner allowing(?) one of his slaves to mate with an Indian. I guess the slave owner would maintain "ownership" rights to those children, so perhaps it isn't so unusual afterall. Thanks again,
