"One thing to keep in mind when researching Pamunkey ancestors is that there were only about 150 people on the reservation--most of them related to each other and already mixed with the free African American population before 1800".

In your opinion, what are the chances of Pamunkey also mixing with AA slaves in this area (Goochland Co., Va) prior to the 1800?

It is believed that a slave ancestor had several children (5) fathered by a member(s) of the Pamunkey tribe. The births would have taken place between ca 1760-1775 time period.

Seems strange to me, but I am finding stranger things in my research. :)
