Yes Art, You are right, and the Oberlin College website has a lot of good information online about the JOHN COPELAND family,along with actual copies of documents. It's a really good website to do some research for families in the area, too. I have actually been trying to get in touch with those COPELAND descendants recently, one of which I had some brief contact a few years ago. A recent photo found of a COPELAND ancestor of mine from the same time period shows quite a resemblance to those of John A. Copeland Jr.(1834-1859) and particularly to his brother, William L. Copeland (1845-1885), and I did want to discuss this further with their descendants because the last I heard, no one had ever been able to find out exactly which slaveowner had supposedly freed the Wake Co.
