Re: Quaker and FPOC in Southside VA and NC
In Response To: Re: Quaker and FPOC in Southside VA and NC ()
Linda, My COPELANDs were sort of in reverse, when it came to Virginia; that is, record is first found for them in early 1800's Halifax Co.,NC, where the family stayed for the most part only moving between Warren & Halifax Counties, North Carolina in most of the 1800's, with some of them moving to Virginia by 1900. I haven't found any connection to the Hertford Co. COPELANDs, but I do believe they were connected with the Wake Co. ones of the 1800's, though, because of various records I've found. My COPELANDs were Benjamin, b.1812 Halifax Co.,NC, and his brother, Joseph, b. 1810, Halifax Co.,NC; both of them married HAWKINS sisters from Halifax, and while Joseph died around 1868,all of their family members remained close throughout the 1800's.
