When your NICKENS start to migrate/disappear from Loudoun Co., VA you might give a look at Ross, Madison & Miami Counties in Ohio.

That surname with various spellings starts appearing in Ohio marriages as early as 1808 in Ross County. The FTM CD 'Marriage Index:Ohio 1789-1850' lists 16 Nickens marriages from 1808 to 1844 and I can identify most of them as FPOC marriages.
