Re: MARY BOWDEN FPOC POPES CREEK PLANTATION

This is only part of how I came to my conclusion as I have several documents proving the relationships between William and Mary Monroe(who is the mother of my ancestor Mary Bowden). After checking the age of William Monroe, (and other information), I came to the conclusion that he was her father. The result of the hearing was that Mary Monroe was not indicted. The court excused her because she was not allowed by law to marry the father, a white man. There are other documents showing the Monroes, and their connection to the Chilton's (where my ancestor Mary Bowden lived when she was bound out to the Washington family). In one of the documents is a statement that Mary Bowden was living with her Uncle Thomas Chilton. Well, I traced the relationship between the Chilton's and Monroes, and they were related. The Chilton's were mentioned in the Monroe's Wills and vice versa.
