Carol, ============================================================
R: William Frederick JONES, son of Thomas & Martha MAXWELL JONES, was married to Grace Elizabeth BASS, daughter of Jacob & Catherine BURDEN BASS. They had three children; William Frederick JONES Jr., a local historian of the settlement; Iva JONES SAWYER, and Catherine JONES MCCALL. William F. JONES Jr. lived in a log cabin house (sided) in the settlement next to the CLEMENS Cemetery. ============================================================
R: No. ============================================================
R: I won't speak for the township but there were four denominations in the Greenville Settlement. Baptist, AME, Wesleyan Methodist and early on, Methodist. The Baptist never had a building the others did with one still standing and in use. William Frederick JONES was a pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church in the Settlement (after several mergers the Wesleyan Methodist denomination is now Bethel Wesleyan, and the one in the Settlement called Bethel Long Wesleyan). ============
R: I am very interested in this person and her family. Could you be more specific as to who her grandmother was? The CHAVIS family was a surname/family in the Greenville Settlement and in just about all the settlements. They were teachers, ministers, and activists. Doug
