Re: STEWARD/STEWART, Loudoun births

Hi again Wanda,

Looked in the birth register and did find births attributed to Lima's parents and to Limas:

STEWARD, Lucean FM, 25 May 1855, Ldn, Geo. Steward laborer, Ldn., sally Steward, I-geo. steward,f, 29:26[62]

STEWARD, Elizabeth CF, 12 Mar 1873, Guinea, George Steward, laborer, Guinea, Sallie Steward, I-f &m,172:38

STEWARD, Martha A, FF, 10 Feb 1859, Ldn George Steward, laborer, Ldn, Sally A Steward, I -Sally A. steward, m 91:10[111] & 108:374

STEWART, Catherine E, FF 15 Apr. 1857,Ldn George Stewart NG,Ldn sally a Stewart m 63:16[87]

STEWART,Milburn, CM Jul 1873,Pothouse, Limas Stewart laborer,Ldn. georgiana stewart, I-Limas Stewart,f. 177:103

There may be more - haven't got time to do complete study this AM - but would suggest that you buy or borrow several books that will be well worth your while if you are going to focus on Loudoun:

Register of Free Negroes - Patricia Duncan
Loudoun County Birth Register - Patricia Duncan
Loudoun county marriages after 1853 Duncan & Frain
Loudoun County Death Register 1853 1896 - Frain & Hiatt

There are some Stewart/Steward deaths listed for children of George and Sallie.
5 year old Ann - died of scarlet fever April 1859/1860, and Catherine died at 1 year 11 months 2 days - no cause given.

I have some STUART listings in 1850 census on my webpage:

http://www.wemba-music.org/fpoc_surnames_s.htm

I'd suggest you look at these too - since the spelling seems to shift a bit.

Good luck, and give me a holler if you have any questions,

Denise
