I am researching the parents of my g grandfather, Silas West b. 1833 m. 1861/1862 Winifred "Winnie" Barefoot b. 1845 in NC. According to the 1870 Census, they were married with 3 children and race stated as Mulatto, living in Sampson County, Westbrook Township, Blackman's Mill, Dwelling 38. Silas died between 1900-1910 before the birth and death certificates were given out. Can you help me? How do i find out who my gg grandparents were when there were no certificates back then. How do I find out the history of this family between 1800-1870. I don't even know where he was born. Thanks very much. Alice
