I'm not well versed in this particular subject, but I agree with you. I remember a project on miscegenation while in grad school; I was surprised to learn about black and white marriages in northern communities in the 19th century and relationships between indentured servants (white women) and black men; which led to the anti-miscegenation laws.

I'm glad we have these types of forums to help advance the study of African Americans and genealogy.
