You may want to log onto the Afro-Louisiana History and genealogy site by Dr. Gwen Midlo Hall.

Plug in the last names in the "Masters" area and you will find lots of Chevals and a few Grounx. This will tell you not only about slave transactions but will tell you where the Cheval or Grounx families lived.

Cheval may have also been a "dit" name. There is a site on the web...sorry I can't find it right now...that will give you the other names or "named as" (dit) for the name of Cheval.
