Re: Indian?

Interesting thought. However, during the time of the transatlantic slave trade and earlier, I haven't read any accounts to date that a significant degree of intermixing between the indigenous people and the European slave traders occurred...definitely not of the same degree that occurred here in America. When our African ancestors were captured and placed on slave ships, some of the women were indeed raped and probably bore a mulatto child later; but prior to capture, I personally believe most of my African ancestors (Fulani, Akan, Mbundu, Tikar, and others yet to be uncovered) were living in settlements/villages that probably saw very little or no intermingling with Europeans. Did many Europeans even live in West Africa during the time of and before the transatlantic slave trade other than on the slave castles along the Atlantic coast? Mel
