That both Sweat and Graweere are on the same page would only mean that their cases were held on the same date. However, there is a connection that both men had children by women in Lieutenant Robert Shepherd's household. Graweere/ Geaween? is called a "negro servant" and had a child by Shepherd's "negro woman." Before I saw Robinson's notes, John Geaween made sense because he would have been about the right age to have been the father of Michael and Philip Gowen who were probably brothers. Robert Sweat, a white man, had a child (we learn later at least two) by Shepherd's "negro woman servant." This "negro woman servant" may not have been a slave. She was apparently Margaret Cornish who is free in Surry County in 1663 with her son Robert, who is later called Robert Sweat. Paul
