Re: Longtown Connection
In Response To: Re: Longtown Connection ()
Hello Longtown Researchers, As I read thru this thread I see several surnames that also link to my families. Of particular interest at this time is WARD. An Adams relative (2nd cousin once removed) married Isaac Newton Ward, Jr., who is the s/o Isaac Newton & Mary (Green) Ward. The elder Isaac was born in 1874 in Wilmington, Clinton, OH, and died in 1954 in Xenia, Greene, OH. In 1880 he is listed with his parents & siblings in Adams, Clinton, OH as follows: Philip Ward 44 (b. ca 1836)
Per this census, Philip and his parents were born in VA, however his wife Paulina and her parents were born in NC. A look at the 1850 census, reveals Philip (age 15) with his parents, Simon & Chany Ward, along with siblings Handy?, Martha A, Mary E., Melinda, Simon, Moriah E., and John. Perhaps there's a connection with the Ward's in this thread. It'll be interesting to see how many other connections I find while playing catch up after being MIA for quite some time! Irita Canady P.S. Doug, I had the pleasure of meeting one of your relatives (Dale) at our Stevens' reunion.
