In Response To: Re: Louisa COPELAND ()

I once did a study of the COPELANDs in Wake & Northampton Counties, to see if there might be a connection to the Halifax Co. families. I couldn't find anything that seemed to connect the Northampton families much with the others, but there was a connection between the Wake, Frankin, Warren & Halifax County COPELANDs. I don't have anything on Louisa or Mildred's families, though, who were living in Gates Co. in 1850. I have found many of the COPELANDs I researched to be a very close-knit bunch of families who tended to stay pretty much within the same locations during the 1800's, and only moved on to other locations by 1900 or later. All of the families who lived in Warren, Halifax, Wake & Franklin, did indicate that they were born in NC, however, with the Warren & Halifax group saying they were born in Halifax County. It's their origins that have been hard to document because each and every one of the early famiies seem to have popped up out of nowhere.
