I took a look at 1810 Census, page 8. I believe that it reads Stephen Mann or Manns. I took a look at page 7, for the same census, and the enumerator wrote surnames with "y" at the end differently (see Murphy). Ben? Johnson (I think it might be an abbrevition of Benjamin) are the only 2 black families on page 8, however on page 7 there are quite a few. Hope this helps. My image was pretty clear.
