I got the link that you posted on AfriGeneas. My brother and I had done a lot of research just ths year, and we found out a lot of info that we never knew. We are an all white family, or so we thought. My grandfather, Bartley Dawson Sr, was Mulatto, and passed for white. He never told anyone that he was from a black/mulatto family heritage, and I guess we just accepted that he was white. But now we look at old photos of him whe cam sort of see is heritage. He took his secret to his grave. He never told us of anything from his past, except that his mother was murdered, Mary Dawson, who was married to William C. Dawson by Fred Dulf her son-in-law. With that piece of info we were able to look up police reports and made many other connnective links to our past. It was all amazing. So our great great grandfather was Rev. John Brown Dawson, his wife was Julia Coleman. I think she might have been white, it loo ked like that on her death certificate. Or he was a mulatto, as were most of the family members. We ae from John's son William, The Willis line are from John's son Frank. John's one son, Richard was a senator in Arkansas fir a few years. I got several death, and marriage certificates from the Chicago archives, of the old family members from the past. I even put a book together for my family members. Please let me know what other info you might have.
