My wife descends from William and Betsy Goins; their daughter Mary Goins married Henry Curtis, Jr. born circa 1780. Henry Curtis, Jr. left North Carolina (he lived in Orange; Person; and Caswell counties) after 1810 and moved his family to Bond County, Illinois.

Most of my information on the Goins family comes from the 1896 Cherokee Application files and I run into a brick wall at this stage of my Goins research.

Also, the double enumeration of William Goins (or alternate spelling) on the 1790 Moore County, NC census adds to the mystery--one time enumerated as FPOC and the other time as white.
