I am searching for info on my grandfather who is believed to have originated from that area. His name was John B. Pierce (or Perc or Pearce). I have always been told his middle name was Baptist. His birth year was abt. 1870. He died in Petersburg, VA in November 1921. I also have a funeral card with T V Perc written from the very, very early 1900's. Though my census researches I have found a lot of Pierces in NC, particularly along what is now the VA-NC border. He and my grandmother raised a large family of 8 in the Halifax, NC area until the very early 1920's when they migrated to Petersburg, VA. Any info anyone could provide will be much greatly appreciated. All emails will be answered.
