Hi folks! I know I'm usually the one to offer help for finding a FPOC in North Carolina, but now I need some help
I've been doing some post-1850 census research lately and trying to reconstruct the Carter family tree (note, this is not my line, but one of the families I do research on). I recently viewed the 1910 census for Craven Co. and found the following families:
Isaac Carter b. ~ 1840
m. Martha A. b. ~ 1849
1. Joshua b. ~1894
William H. Carter b. ~1879
m. Josephine b. ~1884
1. Warneta [sic] b. ~1901
2. Mittie? b. ~1908
Isaac Carter b. ~1872
m. Warneta [sic] M. b. ~1878
1. Norman b. ~1898
2. Nehemiah b. ~1905
3. Raumiah? (Roney? in 1920) b. ~1908
4. Lefroy? b. between 12/1909-1/1910
Malachai Carter b. ~1876
m. Emma G. b. ~1882 (wife was Jenette in 1920)
1. Mamie b. ~1901
2. Martha A. b. ~1903
3. Elisha b. ~1904
4. Eliza J. b. ~1908
Hezekiah Carter b. ~1874
m. Hannah J. b. ~1885 (2nd marriage for both, this marriage for 5 years)
1. Bert b. ~1898
2. Jesse b. ~1900
3. Gertrude b. ~1901
4. Moses b. ~1907
5. Hosea b. ~1909
Now, going back to the 1880 census, I was able to verify that Isaac (b. ~1840/1) was the father of the younger Issac, William H. and Malachai, but I can't find Hezekiah in any census before 1910. In the 1910 census, they were all living very close together, with the first 3 living next door and only 1 household separated them from Malachai and only 3 between Malachai and Hezekiah. In 1880, Isaac and Martha do have 2 other sons (Elisha and Eazzear?), but both are at least 4 years too old for Hezekiah if his age was right in 1910.
I'd appreciate any help on figuring out who Hezekiah was the son of.
Thanks!
