Has anyone been able to get any information on their ancestors from Saint Domingue (Haiti)? My ancestor Francois Lavigne came from there before 1812 as he served in D'Aquin's militia during the war of 1812. He served as a freeman, but I haven't been able to get anywhere,,,eveninformation from the NARA is limited for service records....thanks for any input!
