I truly believe that one should trace to the present day one of the free colored persons you have listed here to the present day. The mesegenation issue is a complication. Has it been done already? Records in abstract need to be verified with shown examples of present day use. That is what I did with the Indiana Jones bank record that was presented to several of the ALA conferences by Proquest. I traced her to present day descendents and the results were shown to hundreds of librarians that clearly showed how these records have present day use.
