His birthplace was given to census taker in the 1850 Harrison County census.
In the 1880 census, several of his children indicated their father's birthplace as Maryland.
It doesn't appear to be any other Maryland-born freeborns in the area. Most were Kentucky-born. The older ones were from Virginia. And MY Ayers married INTO those families. He seems to be a loner.

There were several Ayers in the 1790, 1800, 1810, 1820, etc Maryland census. Particularly in Baltimore and Queen Annes Counties.
