I don't know if this will help or confuse, I was using heritage quest search, looking for James Titus in maryland and found the identical listing for james Titus age 47 withal all the wife and children, in Queen annes district, one in 1-dist and one in 2-dist. Identical in all ways except one is listed as B and the other is not. I assume they could be any race, but Heritage quest has one as W and one as B.
Why the census is written that way I don't know.page 816 and page 917.

I don't know if this helps or hurts, but I wanted people to know I found a problem that may mislead some researchers!
