There are lots of Lucas lines in southeastern Ohio. Charles Lucas b. 1815 Virginia is married to Rachle Lett b. 1813 and is listed in the 1850 census of Meigs Township, Muskingum County Ohio. Charles registers to vote in the Township in 1853 and is refused the right to vote. He pursues the matter and the court rules stating that any man who has more white blood than colored and can read and write should have the right to vote.
