Re: JONES, HARGRAVE,LUCAS
In Response To: Re: JONES, HARGRAVE,LUCAS ()
I found some more links to my Lucas line from Loudoun County VA to Belmont County Ohio.
(1) Paul Heinegg's Research of the Grimes Family - "VI. JUDA, MARRIED JAMES LUCAS, 12 SEPTEMBER 1814 LOUDOUN COUNTY BOND." I believe this is the same James Lucas as the brother of my Eli Lucas (whose father was Chas. (Charles) Lucas). James Lucas' wife was named Julia (per census records in Marshall Co. WV (his other family members moved on from Ohio Co VA (Marshall Co. WV) to Belmont Co. Ohio). Given the ages of Julia's and James' children (their oldest son, Isaiah was born about 1816), the 1814 marriage date would seem to fit. A bio about James and Julia may be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/poc-lucas.htm
(2) I have death records that two of Eli's siblings, Sarah and Henry Lucas (assumed also to be children of Charles Lucas) were born in Loudoun County. All are within the right age groups.
(3) Mr. Heinegg's research of the LUCAS FAMILY records, "...v. ?Charles1, taxable in the upper district of Prince William County from 1787 to 1810: listed with William Mitchell in 1787, called a "black" man in 1802 [PPTL, 1782-1810, frames 88, 128, 156, 222, 285, 352, 491, 545, 509, 723]. He was head of a Prince William County household of 15 "other free" in 1810 [VA:523]. HE WAS A "F.N." TAXABLE ON HIS UNNAMED SON IN LOUDOUN COUNTY IN 1811 [PPTL 1798-1812]."
So this would seem to tie Charles Lucas (family of 15 "other free" in 1810 Prince William) to Loudoun County and perhaps to son James (who was in Loudoun in 1814) or some other son.
Any and all additional information would greatly be appreciated.
