REDMANs in from VA in Fayette County PA
Hi all !
I am new to genealogy for please forgive me if I am not using the right etiquette. I have been using the census data from Ancestry.com and have reached back as far as I can on the REDMAN side and am looking for any guidance you can give.
My ggGrandmother was Sarah REDMAN b. ~1844 in Virginia (from 1850 Census, German Township, Fayette County PA). She married another super light skinned mulatto Samuel SIMPSON. The majority of their children later passed for white (with the exception of my gGrandfather).
Sarahís father is listed as James REDMAN (b. 1813 in VA) and appears to have moved to Fayette County, PA in about 1850 (1860 census they have one child born in 1849 in VA and one born in 1851 in PA). Per the 1850 census, I know he was born in VA in about 1813 (I believe Hardy County, but not positive). I know he must have been a very fair skinned mulatto given the looks of his offspring. I am looking to try to determine the identity of James REDMANís father.
I see there is a tremendous amount of information on REDMANs from Loudon counties and Hardy county which I have poured through. Any guidance would be appreciated.
