I am also descended from Vardy Collins. He is my 4th great grandfaher. I have my family tree on ancestry.com under Nichols family tree. My father's family was a mix of British and German so I don't have the outward appearance of a Melungeon, but many people in my family do. I have relatives that are very dark skinned and I wish I could have gotten some of those genes instead of frizzy red hair and thousands of freckles. I do have the Melungeon shovel teeth and the knot on the back of my head that are Melungeon indicators.
